Swig & Weave: Found Poetry Workshop
Unleash your inner poet using 'found words'.
10.30am – 12.30pm // All materials supplied // 10% discount for IW members
Found poetry is where you take existing words and phrases to craft your poem – think newspapers, magazines, even book pages (don't worry, we'll be using reclaimed books that would have otherwise gone to landfill).
To craft your poem, all you need to do is cut and stick your words, or use the original text itself and scribble out what you don't want. We'll be on hand to provide ideas, but if it just isn't your time to rhyme, you can construct any statement you like.
Venue: This daytime workshop is taking place at Chapter34 (32-34 Brunswick Road, Shoreham-by-Sea, England BN43 5WB). Ran by Kelly, this independent bookshop is stocked full of wonderful reads. Come early to peruse the shelves and grab a hot drink from the cafe. Please note we'll be in the upstairs space at Chapter34, which is accessed by stairs.
What you need to bring: Nothing! We'll supply everything you need including scissors, glue and backing paper, but if any phrases in newspapers or magazine catch your eye, feel free to bring them along.
About your host: This workshop is being run by Swig & Weave creator Heidi. Creative agency director by day, by night Heidi does crochet, clothing alterations, and organises fun craft nights!
Got a question? Just send Heidi an email: swigandweave@gmail.com
