Join us for an evening of bookish chat as we explore the 2024 Booker Prize Shortlist.
Read as many or as few of the titles as you like and join in the discussion. Raise a glass or two with likeminded folk and share your thoughts.
Which book did you love? Which one will you be pressing into people’s hands? Which title do you think should win the prize? At the end of the evening we’ll vote for a group winner.
The shortlist will be announced in the evening of Monday 16th September and we will be sharing them across our socials. The winner will be announced the week after the event on Tuesday 12th November.
Once you have booked your ticket and the shortlist has been announced you will need to email carmen@chapter34.co.uk to confirm which title you would like. This is also an opportunity to order any of the other titles.
Your hosts for this glorious evening will be Kelly, owner of Chapter 34, Carmen, Kelly’s right hand woman and Verity, owner of Palate. Between the three of us we will have read the 6 books on the list so you’ll have at least one person to chat with even if you’ve read only one title.

The list includes ‘Works of fiction that inhabit ideas by making us care deeply about people and their predicaments,’ according to Chair of judges Edmund de Waal, who adds that these are works that have ‘made a space in our hearts and that we want to see find a place in the reading lives of many others’
